It’s amazing to realize that no matter how old we get, we never know everything about ourselves. We are constantly evolving and changing, so there may be things we don’t understand and may never understand. Our likes and dislikes can change. What we consider “needs” can change. It’s a continual process.
I heard an artist – Tyrone Geter – speak few years ago about art and artists. One thing from his talk that stuck out the most, is that you should find yourself in your work.
I thought long and hard about that one. Find yourself in your work. Architect, builder, song writer, blogger…we should find ourselves in what we do. I would even go so far as to say that we can (and should) find ourselves in how we father/mother our children, how we navigate friendships, how we function at work. In everything we do, we should find a little bit of ourselves, learn more about who we are.
It occurred to me, that if I am not intentional about what I am doing on a daily basis, not intentional about my calling or gift, that I am not only missing out on the joy those things may bring, but I may also be missing out on finding more about who I am (which always plays out like the excitement of Christmas morning for me).
Do you know who you are? Do you “find yourself ” in your work? Your art? Your writing? Your music? Your calling? And if not, what are you waiting on? Tomorrow’s not promised. Follow your dream. Find a little bit more of yourself every day.
Go BE Blessed. Go find a bit of yourself today. Please don’t forget to like and follow!
